Nikka from the Barrel Whisky is produced on Hokkaido, Japan's northern island, by the Yoichi Distillery.

Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of NIKKA Whisky, sought the best conditions for his first distillery. The YOICHI Distillery was founded in 1934 in the small coastal town of the same name. This location is known for its cold climate with adequate humidity, fresh, clean air, and fresh water. The distillation process is still carried out in the distillery today using traditional old methods. The stills are heated by direct coal fire, which intensely brings out the roasted notes.

For this whisky, two Nikka single malts, Miyagikyo and Yoichi, as well as a single grain whisky, are blended. The whisky matures in both Bourbon and Sherry casks.
