Bottega Alexander Exquisite Aqva di Vita Grappa Invecchiata Prosecco is a fine, cask-aged pomace brandy distilled from the precious pomace of Glera grapes – the golden-yellow grape variety used to produce the world-famous Prosecco. This grappa combines the aromatic freshness and elegance of its source wine with the depth and complexity resulting from careful ageing in wood.


It is produced with the utmost precision whilst upholding traditional Italian distilling techniques. Distillation takes place in traditional copper stills, in three phases at different temperatures, to preserve the delicate range of grape aromas as effectively as possible. Vacuum distillation ensures a particularly gentle separation of the aromas, whilst bain-marie heating (an indirect water bath method) guarantees a smooth, balanced result.


The grappa is then aged for 12 months in handcrafted oak casks, made from wood that has been air-dried for at least 24 months. This allows the wood to lose excess moisture and unwanted bitter compounds before the staves are cut to size, toasted and assembled into casks. During this ageing process, the grappa develops its typical golden-yellow colour, a distinct complexity of aromas and its characteristic smooth texture.
