The Salzl Cuvée Classic Red 2023 stands for an expressive, versatile red wine from Burgenland, skillfully combining drinking pleasure, structure, and origin. The Salzl Seewinkelhof winery is known for precisely vinified wines with a clear style, with this cuvée considered a classic representative of the house. The composition of Zweigelt, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon unites fruitiness, spice, and depth into a harmonious overall picture. The vines grow on sandy loam brown earth soils with a high proportion of gravel, which gives the wine a juicy structure and a fine mineral tension. With an alcohol content of 14%, the 2023 vintage presents itself as powerful, balanced, and elegant.


Vinification involves traditional mash fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 30 °C with a maceration period of 14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation, purposefully building density and balance. Aging primarily takes place in stainless steel tanks, supplemented by a portion in small oak barrels with a quarter filling, which imparts structure and depth without dominating the fruit. The recommended drinking maturity ranges from 2025 to 2032 with optimal storage. Served at a drinking temperature of 16 to 18 °C, this Salzl Cuvée Classic Red appears particularly balanced and inviting.
