The Stauning SMOKE Floor Malted Smoked Barley Danish Single Malt Whisky 47% Vol. 0.7 L is a characterful Danish single malt whisky from the renowned Stauning Distillery, located on the windswept west coast of Denmark near Ringkøbing Fjord. The distillery stands for modern craft whisky from Denmark, focusing on local raw materials, traditional craftsmanship, and a strong awareness of terroir. For this Stauning SMOKE Danish Single Malt Whisky, only 100% locally grown Danish barley is used, which is traditionally floor-malted directly at the distillery. Afterwards, the malt is kilned over local peat and dried heather from the Stauning region. This combination creates a particularly mild, aromatic smoke structure, reminiscent more of bonfire smoke than of medicinal peat smoke.


After malting, a double distillation takes place in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills, resulting in a particularly aromatic and complex whisky. The Stauning SMOKE Floor Malted Smoked Barley Danish Single Malt Whisky then matures for about 5 to 6 years in a combination of first-fill Bourbon casks, Madeira casks, Jamaican rum casks, and heavily charred new American oak casks. This variety of casks gives the whisky additional depth and an elegant balance of smoke, fruit, and sweetness. This award-winning bottling is bottled at 47% Vol., unfiltered and non-chill-filtered, thus fully preserving its structure and aromatic density.
