The Salzl Grande Cuvée Josanna 2022 14% Vol. 0.75 l is a powerful, elegant red wine from Austria that impressively reflects the signature of the renowned Salzl Seewinkelhof winery. This high-quality cuvée from Burgenland combines the grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Zweigelt, and Cabernet Sauvignon to create a multifaceted, structured overall picture. The grapes come from carefully selected sites with loess-like chernozem on sandy loam with a high proportion of gravel, as well as paracherntzem and sandy soils, which give the Burgenland red wine its mineral depth.


The vinification is classic with traditional mash fermentation in stainless steel tanks at around 30 °C and about 14 days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the Grande Cuvée Josanna matures for about 12 months in small oak barrels, which creates structure, finesse, and aromatic complexity. At 14%, this Austrian red wine presents itself as full-bodied, balanced, and elegant. The optimal drinking window is between 2026 and 2035, making this Salzl Cuvée also excellent for longer storage.
