The Netzl Zweigelt Rubin Carnuntum DAC 2023 13.5% Vol. 0.75 l is a characterful Austrian red wine from Carnuntum, impressively reflecting the typical characteristics of the regional brand Rubin Carnuntum. This designation stands for high-quality Zweigelt red wines, made from the autochthonous Zweigelt grape variety, which must pass a strict quality test by an independent tasting panel. The Netzl winery is one of the region's renowned estates and stands for authentic, terroir-driven DAC wines from Austria.


The vines grow on slightly gravelly loess soils, which give the wine structure and fine minerality. The mesoclimate of the Carnuntum region simultaneously benefits from the influence of Lake Neusiedl and the nearby Danube. This climatic combination ensures optimal ripeness of the grapes while preserving a lively acidity and fresh fruit. Selective manual harvesting took place on September 21, 2023, followed by careful whole-bunch and single-berry selection in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a maximum of 28 °C, accompanied by regular pumping over of the cap to optimally extract color, aromas, and tannins. After about two weeks of maceration, malolactic fermentation takes place in used barriques. The wine then matures for about 12 months in used French barrique barrels before bottling in summer 2025.
