The Nikka FRONTIER Blended Whisky 48% Vol. 0.5 l + GB is a modern bottling from the renowned Japanese whisky distillery Nikka Whisky and was first introduced in Japan in 2024 to celebrate the company's 90th anniversary. This edition is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the company founder, Masataka Taketsuru, who is considered the father of the Japanese whisky industry. Taketsuru travelled to Scotland as early as 1918 to learn the traditional art of whisky making. Upon his return to Japan, he combined this knowledge with Japanese precision, laying the foundation for authentic Japanese whisky production, which is now recognised worldwide. The Nikka Frontier Blended Whisky builds on this tradition, combining classic craftsmanship with a modern, accessible style.


The base of this Japanese Blended Whisky is a high proportion of peated single malt from the Yoichi distillery, Nikka's first distillery. In total, the blend consists of more than 51% various malt whiskies, giving the whisky a distinct malty depth and aromatic complexity. The composition is complemented by in-house Coffey Grain Whiskies, which provide additional balance and a smooth structure. The Nikka Frontier Whisky is bottled at a robust 48% Vol., without chill-filtration, thus preserving its natural character particularly well. The striking 500 ml bottle underscores the modern style of the bottling. The design incorporates the "N" from the Nikka logo and features a relief motif of the Shimenawa on the back, a traditional Japanese rice straw rope that is attached to shrines and refers to Taketsuru's family roots in sake brewing.
