Planteray Rum JAMAICA 10 Years Old Special Edition is a 10-year-old rum from Jamaica, blending distillates from the historic Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond Distillery. Molasses serves as the raw material, which is fermented over a period of two weeks. This lengthy fermentation process helps develop the intense and complex aromas characteristic of Jamaican rum. Both pot stills and column stills are used for distillation, allowing powerful, aromatic components to be combined with more structured distillates. Of particular note is the sugar content of 0 g/l; the Planteray Jamaica 10 Years therefore requires no additional sugar to be added.

Maturation follows the principle of double ageing characteristic of Planteray rum. First, the rum spends eight years in Jamaica in 200-litre American oak casks that previously contained bourbon. It is then transported to France, where it matures for a further two years at Maison Ferrand in 350-litre Ferrand casks. This 10-year maturation process, including a two-year finish in France, combines tropical cask maturation with the influence of the Ferrand casks. With an alcohol content of 42 per cent and a 0.7-litre bottle, this Planteray Jamaica Special Edition is a complex bottling with a clear Jamaican heritage and a multi-layered double-ageing concept.
