The Balvenie Distillery, which has been producing high-quality whisky since 1892, still preserves many traditional methods in its production process today. For example, the barley is still grown on-site, and the distillery uses a traditional malting floor – a rarity in the modern whisky industry. Furthermore, Balvenie employs its own team of coopers who are responsible for maintaining and repairing the casks to ensure optimal quality throughout the entire maturation process.

The Balvenie 21 Years Old Portwood Finish initially matures for 21 years in carefully selected Bourbon casks. Subsequently, the whisky receives a special Portwood Cask Finish, during which Balvenie's Malt Master continuously monitors the result until bottling. This meticulous oversight ensures that the whisky reaches its full flavor potential and develops the characteristic depth and complexity for which Balvenie is renowned.
