The Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery, designed in 1896 by John Dewar’s sons and commissioned in 1898, is the only Scottish whisky distillery built by the Dewar family. Designed by the renowned architect Charles Doig, the distillery, with its distinctive pagoda roof, was built in Highland Perthshire, near John Dewar’s birthplace.

Its location on the Pitilie Burn – known for its gold-rich water, which is still used in whisky production today – and the good rail links to Perth were decisive factors in the choice of site. These logistical advantages provided efficient support for the whisky production process. The emotional connection to the region, close to John Dewar’s birthplace, also played a significant role in the construction of Aberfeldy, making the distillery a special place in the family’s history.

Launched in October 2005, the 21-year-old Aberfeldy has established itself as the brand’s flagship. This exceptional single malt is matured for 21 years in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks, giving it an additional maturation period of around nine years beyond the average.
