The Zacapa Edición Negra Sistema Solera Gran Reserva is a premium Guatemalan rum inspired by the powerful natural forces of the country and the dark fire of its volcanoes. The foundation for this exceptional rum is particularly high-quality sugarcane, which thrives under optimal climatic conditions in Central America. A special feature of its production is the use of "Virgin Sugar Cane Honey," the noble essence of the first pressing, which gives this rum a unique depth and elegance.

The distillates mature for six to 23 years in carefully selected barrels that previously contained Bourbon, Sherry, and Pedro Ximénez wine. This aging takes place at 2,300 meters above sea level in the famous "House Above the Clouds," which slows down the aging process and intensifies the aromas. The heart of the Zacapa Edición Negra is the traditional Solera process, a time-honored aging technique originally developed for Sherry. In this process, rums of different ages are continuously blended to achieve an unparalleled variety and depth of flavor.

The Zacapa Edición Negra undergoes its final maturation in double-charred American oak barrels that previously held American whiskey. This special process gives it its characteristic smoky and spicy flavor, which distinctly sets it apart from the sweet, caramel notes of Zacapa 23. Every step of the production is supervised by Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, who is internationally renowned for her powerful and expressive rum creations.
