The Zacapa Edición Negra is an exceptional premium rum from Guatemala, inspired by the country's natural forces and the dark power of its volcanoes. Its production begins with particularly high-quality sugarcane, which grows under ideal climatic conditions in the heart of Central America. One of the special features of this rum is the use of "Virgin Sugar Cane Honey," the noble essence of the first pressing of the sugarcane, which provides unparalleled depth and complexity.

It is aged using the elaborate Solera process, in which distillates of various ages – between six and 23 years – are blended in carefully selected oak barrels. These barrels, which previously contained Bourbon, Sherry, and Pedro Ximénez wine, give Zacapa Edición Negra its impressive aroma. What is special about this rum is the final maturation in double-charred American oak barrels that previously held American whiskey. This process gives it its intense, smoky character, which clearly distinguishes it from the sweet, caramel-driven notes of Zacapa 23.

Every step in the production takes place under the supervision of Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, who is world-renowned for her powerful and expressive rum creations. The aging takes place at 2,300 meters above sea level in the "House Above the Clouds," which slows down the aging process and gives the rum its exceptional complexity and elegance.
