The name El Ron Prohibido (The Forbidden Rum) dates back to the 18th century, when the so-called Chinguirito Rum – a distillate from Mexican sugarcane that was aged in sherry casks and shipped to Spain – was banned by the Spanish royal family because it posed too much competition for traditional European rum producers.

The Solera 15 Gran Reserva is aged using the proven Solera method, in which younger rums are blended with older vintages to ensure consistently high quality. Aging for 15 years in oak barrels that previously held sherry gives it its exceptional depth, smooth texture, and an incomparably complex flavor profile.
