The name Port Ruighe (pronounced "Portree") is the Gaelic name for Portree Harbour, which to this day serves as the island's gateway to the world. This naming connects the bottling with the seafaring history and maritime heritage of the distillery.


The whisky first matures in ex-Bourbon casks and refill oak casks before receiving its finish in Port wine casks. This double maturation process gives it a fruity depth that perfectly harmonises with Talisker's typical maritime and peaty-smoky notes.
