The art of Bourbon making began as early as 1812 on the grounds of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a nationally recognized historic landmark. Visitors can feel the deep historical heritage. The history of Bourbon is closely intertwined with the history of Kentucky and thus also with the United States.

The water used to produce Woodford Reserve is sourced directly at the distillery. It undergoes natural filtration through the limestone deposits on the property. This iron-free and mineral-rich water is a crucial factor in the production process, significantly contributing to the Bourbon's quality and uniqueness.

This Bourbon first matures in new, charred oak barrels, where it develops its fundamental characteristics. Subsequently, it undergoes an additional finish in heavily toasted and charred barrels, which imparts an extra depth of flavor to the whiskey. This double maturation process gives Woodford Reserve Double Oaked its characteristic depth and complex flavor nuances.
