Pimms was long considered an eccentric drink because it was drunk from a silver tankard or a small jug and decorated with cucumber and apple slices. The jugs are no longer produced, but the cucumber has remained. Pimms is a lightly spiced gin-based liqueur that is always drunk mixed. It's barely alcoholic, as the liqueur itself is only 25% and is then mixed. It's a refreshing, friendly, and very quaffable drink. It is still drunk in England at rowing regattas or at Wimbledon. That's also where the idea of adding strawberries to Pimms liqueur originated. True drinkers, however, can only be convinced to drink Pimm's by adding a generous shot of gin (e.g., Hendrick's Gin).
