The Douglas Laing Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt is a characterful blended malt Scotch whisky, composed exclusively of selected Speyside single malt whiskies. For this blend, the independent Scottish bottler Douglas Laing uses malts from Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes, amongst others. The whiskies used are predominantly matured in Spanish sherry casks, particularly in generous sherry butts, whose influence significantly shapes Scallywag’s opulent, fruity and spicy character. The blending is carried out in deliberately small batches as a small-batch bottling. The name and the distinctive fox terrier on the label were inspired by a long line of fox terriers belonging to the Douglas Laing family, giving Scallywag its unmistakable appearance.


This edition presents the Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt in an impressive 4.5-litre large-format bottle with a robust 46 per cent ABV. Douglas Laing bottles the whisky without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring. Its rich, dark colour is therefore developed exclusively during cask maturation and is characterised in particular by the Spanish sherry casks used. Scallywag is part of Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts series, representing Speyside with a particularly sherry-forward style. The unusual 4.5-litre format makes for an impressive presentation and is particularly well-suited to large whisky gatherings, events, the hospitality industry or as an eye-catcher in an extensive collection.
