The final name of the liqueur, "Aurum," is based on its golden color and the use of fruit infusions, especially oranges ("aurantium").

The Aurum Golden Orange Liqueur combines an aged Italian brandy and a citrus distillate. The brandy base of the liqueur matured for about 8 years before being enriched with sun-ripened orange peels, selected herbs, and saffron. The subsequent aging in oak barrels gives the liqueur its characteristic golden color.

The original recipe for Aurum Golden Orange Liqueur dates back to Luigi d'Amico, who developed it in 1850 in Abruzzo, Italy.
