The story of Wild Turkey begins in 1869 with the founding of the Ripy Distillery on a hill now known as Wild Turkey Hill, above a gorge of the Kentucky River. In 1919, the distillery closed due to Prohibition, but reopened in 1933. Since 1941, Wild Turkey whiskeys have been produced in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, by Austin Nichols.

The brand name Wild Turkey was established in 1940, when Thomas McCarthy, a manager of the Ripy Distillery, regularly brought the whiskey to turkey hunts, thus increasing its popularity.

For over 60 years, legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell has been crafting Wild Turkey 101. This bourbon is characterized by a high rye content and matures in deeply charred American white oak barrels. This special charring gives it an intense character with rich aromas of caramel, vanilla, and oak. Wild Turkey 101 remains a classic in bourbon production and stands for the highest quality and tradition.
