Founded in 2017, The Oxford Artisan Distillery grows grain within a 80-kilometer radius of the university city of Oxford, which is then used to produce whisky after harvesting. Rye, wheat, and barley are harvested using sustainable methods from the 1800s. Weeds are naturally controlled with clover to best protect the fields.

The distillery's two stills, named Nautilus and Nemo, were handmade by South Devon Railway Engineering.

The Graduate Whisky combines whiskies from a total of six new American oak casks, which come from various cooperages. These casks also differ in toast levels, sizes, and climatic zones. The grain used comes from mixed grain stocks. This is a blend of rye and wheat, cultivated together.
