Plantation Rums have long ceased to be an insider tip. The excellent rums are mainly collected in the Caribbean and also in South America, and then brought to France, where they receive their final refinement. In Ars, France, the rum is subsequently stored for several months in small, discarded oak cognac barrels. This type of maturation is called "Double Ageing"; this technique was already used in the 18th and 19th centuries.

This rum is traditionally distilled in a Column Still. It ages for 7 years in Bourbon casks before receiving its finish for 12 months at Château de Bonbonnet in old Ferrand cognac casks.
