Unofficially, distillation has been carried out at the Ardbeg Distillery since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.
"Ardbeg" comes from Gaelic and translates to "small hill."
The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.
Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, presents this new permanent bottling from Ardbeg; a small batch series released annually.
Ardbeg TRAIGH BHAN Batch No. 4 is a 19-year-old whisky and the latest bottling in the excellent Ardbeg range, which is mostly matured in Oloroso sherry casks. This whisky is bottled during a full moon, which gives it its intense and aromatic taste.
