Description
Description
The Ardbeg 8 Years Old FOR DISCUSSION is a unique Islay Single Malt Whisky, bottled at a robust 50.8% ABV. This special release was launched as an experimental creation for the Ardbeg community, inviting discussion about the style and characteristics of young, smoky whiskies. Matured for 8 years in ex-sherry casks, this whisky offers an exceptional balance between intense smokiness and spicy-sweet sherry influences.
Ardbeg's history dates back a long way: distillation unofficially began at the Ardbeg Distillery as early as 1794, but the distillery was officially opened by John McDougall in 1815 under the name Ardbeg. The name "Ardbeg" comes from Scottish Gaelic and means "small hill" – a reference to the distillery's geographical location. The distillery is located on the south coast of the Scottish whisky region of Islay, which is famous for its heavily peated and maritime whiskies.
This whisky is a tribute to the typical Ardbeg intensity and particularly delights lovers of smoky single malts.
