Description
In 1263, the chief of Clan Mackenzie saved King Alexander III from an attacking stag. In recognition, the King granted the Mackenzie clan the right to use the emblem of the twelve-pointed royal stag on their coat of arms. When descendants of the clan took over the Dalmore distillery in 1867, this royal stag became the symbol of Dalmore, which proudly adorns every bottle today. The precious single malts are matured in exceptional casks, hand-picked by Master Distiller Richard Paterson.
The Dalmore distillery was founded in 1839 and is located on the Cromarty Firth coast in the northern Highlands. Dalmore uses water from the River Alness, which flows through the small town of the same name.
This Dalmore whisky matures for 10 years in ex-Bourbon casks. Afterwards, this whisky receives a finish of up to 3 years in Oloroso and PX casks.
