Since its establishment in 1793, the picturesque location and proximity to the harbor in the west of the Scottish Highlands have made Oban Distillery a magnet for new settlers. Oban, meaning "small bay" in Gaelic, has, despite initial challenges, developed into one of the most respected and efficient distilleries. With only two stills, Oban produces up to 700,000 liters of alcohol annually, making it one of the smallest distilleries in the world—a testament to its excellence and tradition in whisky production.

The Oban 10 Years Old Special Release is part of Diageo's 2022 Special Release series. All whiskies in this series are bottled at cask strength.

The whisky matures for 10 years in American Oak Casks before receiving a finish in ex-sherry and Amontillado-seasoned casks.

A luminous Aurora Borealis adorns the bottle's label, accompanied by a star-studded hare. The image was inspired by the Northern Lights, which are said to have appeared over the distillery one night.
