Before Master Distiller Jim McEwan retired in 2015, he handed over his recipe for the Black Art series to his successor.

This Bruichladdich Black Art 11.1 is made using traditional techniques passed down from one generation to the next. It comes exclusively from casks dating back to before the renaissance of the Bruichladdich distillery, having matured for almost three decades on our island. The final single malt is secretly created by Head Distiller Adam Hannett, whose recipe is known only to him. The distillery refrains from using colorants and chill-filtration.
