As of 2024, the Plantation brand by Maison Ferrand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company's commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly regarding issues such as racial equality, equity, and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugarcane and "Ray" for sunbeams that support the growth of sugarcane, thus intending to create a positive association free from historical burdens. Despite the name change, the taste and production process of the rums will remain unaltered.

After 2 to 3 days of fermentation and distillation in column stills, the rum is initially aged for 3 years in Bourbon barrels. Afterwards, it matures for another 3 years in Ferrand barrels at MAISON FERRAND and finally receives a 1-year finish in Rye Whiskey barrels, which imparts spicy rye notes.
