Originally crafted in 1891 for the Gothenburg Exhibition, this aquavit was named by Carl August Anderson in honor of his father, Olof Peter Anderson. Olof Peter, born in 1797 in Västergötland, was a significant entrepreneur, shipowner, and owner of a liqueur factory, whose vision laid the foundation for a Swedish success story that continues to this day.


The O.P. Anderson Original Aquavit is characterized by its classic seasoning of caraway, anise, and fennel – the three spices that have since been considered formative for Swedish aquavit culture. The harmonious combination of these ingredients, coupled with careful distillation and barrel aging, results in an aromatically complex, finely balanced aquavit with an unmistakable character. Today, it is produced in the modern O.P. Anderson Distillery in Sundsvall, northern Sweden, where traditional copper stills are combined with state-of-the-art distilling technology.
