Founded in 1798, Tobermory Distillery is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, located in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Since its founding, it has experienced turbulent times with many changes of ownership and production stoppages. In 1993, Burn Stewart Distillers took over the distillery, which was then acquired by the South African Distell Group in 2013. In March 2017, production was halted again for refurbishment work. Despite these challenges, Tobermory remains an important part of Scotland's whisky tradition.
