Description
Description
The 50-hectare Alois Lageder vineyard is situated in Margreid, South Tyrol, and is characterised by a close connection with nature and a strong commitment to sustainability, which is reflected both in life on the estate and in the quality of the wines. Furthermore, an engagement with contemporary art forms an integral part of the estate’s philosophy. Chemical and synthetic plant protection products, insecticides and mineral fertilisers are consistently avoided; instead, Alois Lageder relies on preparations, homeopathic teas and compost as natural fertilisers.
The estate’s classic wines showcase the diversity of South Tyrolean viticulture by highlighting the wide range of grape varieties. Both white and red wines are predominantly vinified from grapes sourced from trusted winegrowers, selected for their specific suitability for each variety in the estate’s vineyards. The long-standing collaboration with these winegrowers enables all quality objectives to be achieved and shared.
Alois Lageder Lagrein is made from 100% Lagrein grapes grown in the wine-growing regions of Bolzano, Auer and Margreid. The vines thrive on deep alluvial soils and calcareous soils, which provide optimal growing conditions. Malolactic fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in concrete tanks over a period of around 12 months. The must is then fermented in stainless steel. After maturation, the wine is bottled and sealed with a natural cork.
This red wine has a drinking window of around 6 years, during which its aromas unfold harmoniously, offering a fascinating taste experience.
