With the Ardnahoe 5 Years Old Inaugural Release, the newest distillery on the Scottish island of Islay is launching its very first single malt bottling – a significant moment for the region and for collectors worldwide. The Ardnahoe Distillery, founded in 2018 and idyllically situated between Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain on Islay’s north-east coast, relies on traditional methods in its production, such as long fermentation, slow distillation and the use of worm tubs – a rarity that lends the whisky a particularly oily and deep texture.

The inaugural release is a single malt Scotch whisky that has been matured for five years in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. This cask selection brings out both vanilla-like sweetness and bright freshness, as well as deep fruity notes and spicy oak aromas. With an alcohol content of 50% vol., uncoloured and non-chill-filtered, the whisky remains completely natural in its expression – powerful, authentic and distinctive. As the distillery’s first bottling, this whisky is not only a statement in terms of flavour but also a highly sought-after collector’s item.
