The LAGG Small Batch Single Malt Scotch Whisky ex-Palo Cortado Sherry Cask 56.2% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is a powerful small batch bottling from the Lagg Distillery on the Scottish Isle of Arran and is considered the distillery's first worldwide small batch edition. For this characterful bottling, Concerto barley is used, which is heavily peated to about 50 ppm during the drying process, thus shaping the distillery's distinctive, smoky house style. After delivery, the barley is milled and processed into a cloudy mash in the mash tun, which gives the subsequent distillate a particularly oily and powerful texture. The subsequent fermentation with selected yeast strains and a carefully coordinated fermentation period ensure aromatic depth before the whisky is double distilled in handcrafted copper pot stills.


Maturation begins in first-fill bourbon casks before the whisky is re-aged for about six months in ex-Palo Cortado sherry casks from Jerez. The rare Palo Cortado sherry is considered a particularly prized style, aromatically positioned between Amontillado and Oloroso. During maturation, it develops a unique combination of nutty dryness, caramelized sweetness, and oxidative depth, which is also reflected in the whisky. This smoky single malt Scotch whisky is bottled at a robust 56.2% Vol., without chill filtration and without coloring, thus fully preserving its natural character. The result is an intense Islands Single Malt whisky that impressively combines peat smoke, sherry cask aromas, and complex spice in a remarkable balance.
