The Tement Sauvignon Blanc Ried Zieregg Kapelle Südsteiermark DAC 2022 is an impressive Austrian white wine from the renowned Zieregg site, which is among the best vineyards in Southern Styria. It is vinified 100% from the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety and bears the Große STK Lage (GSTK) classification, distinguishing it as a top-tier wine of international standing. The vines grow on a unique high plateau above the winery, at the foot of the Carmelite Chapel. The soils consist of water-repellent, heavy clay and loam on coral limestone – a remnant of the primeval sea from around 16 million years ago.


The approximately 20-year-old vines, about 7,000 plants across 1.48 hectares, benefit from an ideal altitude of 470 meters. Full-day sun exposure is mitigated by the cooling forest mantle, allowing the grapes to ripen more slowly and develop their complex aromatics. After natural spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for 30 months on fine lees in small, old oak barrels. It is bottled unfiltered and sealed with natural cork. The Tement Zieregg Kapelle has exceptional aging potential of over 20 years and is best decanted for its full depth and elegance to unfold.
