The Tement Morillon Ried Sulz Südsteiermark DAC 2022 originates from a striking basin-shaped vineyard with a south-southwest orientation, which, due to its enclosed form, offers a particularly warm microclimate. Ried Sulz is one of the winery's most significant sites and is considered an ideal location for Burgundian varieties like Morillon due to its structure. The site is characterized by blue and brown calcareous marl, a slope of 45 percent, and an orientation of 150° SE to 220° SW at an altitude of 430–472 meters above sea level. The interplay of these factors creates optimal conditions for vines with a high degree of ripeness; the vines in this Ried are 29 years old. After natural spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for 30 months on fine lees in small French oak barrels (228 liters) and is then bottled unfiltered. A natural cork serves as the classic closure. The ideal drinking maturity lies between 2026 and 2046, which underlines the remarkable development potential of this bottling.
