The Erwin Sabathi Sauvignon Blanc Ried Pössnitzberg Südsteiermark DAC 2023 is one of the great single-vineyard wines of Southern Styria and exemplifies uncompromising origin, depth, and longevity. It comes from the renowned single vineyard Ried Pössnitzberg, whose lean, highly calcareous Opok soil forms the basis for precision, mineral tension, and exceptional structure. It is produced by the multi-award-winning Erwin Sabathi winery, known for terroir-driven premium wines with an international reputation.


The grapes come from steep vineyards, are harvested exclusively by hand, and are organically grown. Fermentation with natural yeasts and the 24-month aging in large wooden barrels lend this Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC enormous depth, inner calm, and precision, without masking the varietal character. With 13% alcohol by volume, the wine is taut, structured, and boasts impressive balance. The planned bottling in September 2025 underscores the wine's claim as a Grand Cru Sauvignon, with a drinking maturity of ten years and well beyond.
