The Louis Roederer Champagne ROSÉ Vintage 2018 12.5% is an elegant vintage rosé champagne from France, combining the robust maturity of the exceptionally warm 2018 vintage with the house’s characteristic freshness. The cuvée consists of 63 per cent Pinot Noir and 35 per cent Chardonnay and comes from the Roederer vineyard ‘La Rivière’. The focus is primarily on Pinot Noir plots in Cumières, where the warmer south-facing slopes produce ripe grapes, whilst cooler terroirs provide structure and freshness. For the rosé, Louis Roederer employs a special infusion method in which Pinot Noir contributes its structure and character through prolonged, gentle contact. 15 per cent of the wine is aged in oak, which further enhances its complexity. The 2018 vintage was harvested between 27 August and 8 September 2018.

With an alcohol content of 12.5% in the 0.75-litre bottle and a dosage of 7 g/l, the Louis Roederer Rosé Vintage 2018 is a ‘Brut’ – or dry – rosé champagne, and is therefore comparatively dry in style. The 2018 vintage also marks a stylistic evolution for the house: due to the greater ripeness of the Pinot Noir grapes, cooler plots were specifically selected to combine a firm structure with the juicy character of the southern vineyards. Louis Roederer attests that its vintage champagnes have excellent ageing potential, meaning this Rosé can continue to develop for many years to come.
