The Salzl Syrah Reserve 2022 14 % is a full-bodied Austrian red wine made from 100 % Syrah, characterised by concentrated fruit, consistent oak ageing and remarkable ageing potential. The vines grow on sandy soil, whilst vinification involves traditional maceration in stainless-steel tanks at 30 °C. The wine is left on the skins for 14 days, after which it undergoes malolactic fermentation. To add further structure and complexity, the Salzl Syrah Reserve is aged for 12 months in small oak barrels, using exclusively 100 per cent new oak. The 2022 vintage was bottled in August 2025.


In the 0.75 l bottle, the Salzl Syrah Reserve 2022 presents itself as a full-bodied reserve red wine, whose intense character is underpinned by a fine tannin structure, fresh minerality and harmoniously integrated oak. Despite its power, this 100 per cent Syrah remains balanced and approachable, whilst the long barrel ageing imparts additional depth and structure. With optimal storage, the wine is expected to reach its peak between 2026 and 2036, making it suitable for both immediate enjoyment and longer ageing.
