Description
Appenzeller Alpenbitter 29% vol. 1 l is a traditional Swiss herbal liqueur that has been produced for over a century according to a closely guarded recipe. Its history began in 1902, when Emil Ebneter developed a unique herbal drink in Appenzell. To this day, the recipe remains in the family’s possession and is one of the best-kept secrets in the world of spirits. All that is known is that Appenzeller Alpenbitter herbal liqueur is made from 42 carefully selected herbs and spices, which give it its unmistakable aroma.
This Swiss Alpine herbal liqueur is produced exclusively from 100% natural ingredients and contains absolutely no chemical additives. Its origins in the Appenzell region play a key role in shaping the character of this Swiss herbal bitter. In the fascinating Alpine landscape, tradition, customs and knowledge of herbs are deeply rooted and passed down from generation to generation. As part of a regional project, some farming families even grow herbs specifically for the production of Appenzeller Alpenbitter. This close connection to nature, together with the unchanged recipe, has made Appenzeller Alpenbitter a true classic for decades and one of the best-known Alpine herbal liqueurs in Europe.
