The stone pine, also known as Arolla pine or Swiss stone pine, is an evergreen tree that has been native to the Alpine region since the last ice age. It can grow up to 25 meters tall and reach an age of up to 1,000 years. The stone pine grows at altitudes between 1,300 and 2,800 meters and is the most frost-hardy tree species in the Alps due to its ability to withstand temperatures down to minus 43 degrees Celsius.

Stone pine schnapps, made from the cones of the stone pine, is traditionally attributed with healing effects for stomach problems and asthma. ZIRM Stone Pine Schnapps has been produced for four generations according to a fixed recipe, using ripe stone pine cones from the Zirbitzkogel region. These cones, known as "ZIRMtschurl," take two years to ripen and are hand-harvested at an altitude of 1,600 to 1,900 meters. Austrian grain is used as the base for the schnapps, followed by a defined maturation and multiple filtering process. The product is a pure natural product without chemical additives.
