Production follows the distillery's traditional method, in which malted barley is dried over a peat fire and then distilled with water from the nearby Kilbride Stream.


Particularly distinctive for this Laphroaig Single Malt Whisky is its Triple Maturation, which gives it an exceptionally complex structure. First, the whisky matures in ex-Bourbon casks made of American oak, creating classic notes of vanilla and oak. The whisky is then transferred to traditional Quarter Casks, smaller 19th-century style casks that promote more intense maturation and a velvety texture due to the larger wood surface. The Laphroaig PX Cask receives its final character through finishing in Pedro Ximénez Sherry Butts, which impart additional sweetness, fruity depth, and a complex aroma to the Islay whisky.
