The Winkler-Hermaden Olivin 2021 is a fascinating, profound red wine from Vulkanland Steiermark, perfectly blending origin, craftsmanship, and nature. The wine is named after a green crystal found in volcanic rock, symbolically representing the connection between the vine and the oak – because not only the grapes but also the oaks for the barriques come from the same volcanic soils around Kapfenstein Castle. This unique symbiosis is reflected in Olivin's multifaceted character: powerful, elegant, and marked by an unmistakable origin.


The Blaufränkisch grapes come from various sites on Kapfensteiner Kogel and are cultivated according to organic-biological guidelines. After a careful hand harvest, the wine is aged for 24 months in 300-liter barriques made from Kapfenstein oak, which gives the wine structure, depth, and aromatic complexity. The combination of the mineral volcanic soil and the subtle influence of the local wood creates a wine that carries the soul of the region within it – authentic, precise, and full of character.
