The Winkler-Hermaden Olivin 2021, presented in an exclusive 5-liter wooden box, is an impressive, powerful red wine from Austria's Vulkanland Steiermark region, fascinatingly uniting origin, craftsmanship, and nature. Its name refers to the green crystal olivine, found in volcanic rock, and symbolically represents the connection between vine and oak – a symbiosis poetically described on the label: "Green crystal in volcanic rock unites vine and oak in wine." This is because the oak trees from which the barriques are crafted also grow in the same climate and on the same soils around Kapfenstein Castle.


The wine is made from the Zweigelt grape, which finds ideal conditions on the volcanic soils of the Kapfensteiner Kogel. After careful hand-picking, the wine is aged for 24 months in barriques made from Kapfenstein oak, giving it its incomparable depth and structure. This combination of organic viticulture, regional wood, and precise cellar work gives the Olivin 2021 its unique character – authentic, elegant, and of impressive complexity.
